Homemade Hummus — Garlic & Black Pepper

Hello all! Hoping you all had a lovely weekend, full of good food and great people — I know mine was.

In honor of the Oil of the Week (Black Pepper / Black Pepper Vitality), I decided to mix up some hummus this weekend with the always flavorful oil! Here’s my favorite balance:

1 can chickpeas (garbanzo beans)

1.5 teaspoons garlic powder

4 drops Black Pepper Vitality

3/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons coconut oil

First things first, strain your can of chickpeas! Pour the entire can into a kitchen appliance capable of pureeing (I used my blender, but a food processor would be great as well). Add the garlic powder, coconut oil, and salt. If your coconut oil is in its solid form, melt it before adding it to the mix. Puree all ingredients, and place the finished result in a glass container. This recipe makes a perfect amount for a half-size mason jar. Then add the 4 drops Black Pepper Vitality, and mix well.

Hummus is incredibly versatile, and has been a lifesaver for spicing up my packed lunches. This particular recipe is great on chicken, carrot sticks, chips of all kinds, and broccoli. Enjoy! 🙂
